Rangers are closing in on the signing of former Ibrox goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

Former Rangers manager Alex McLeish will have excited Ibrox fans by telling BT Sport that goalkeeper Allan McGregor can continue playing until he is 40 – with the Gers reportedly closing in on their man.
The Daily Record claims 36-year-old McGregor is set to return to Ibrox six years after leaving the club to join Turkish giants Besiktas, as the club were forced to start again in the fourth tier of Scottish football.
It is believed that Hull City stopper will sign a two-year deal with Graeme Murty’s side, as question marks still remain over the consistency of current number one Wes Foderingham.

McLeish, who worked with McGregor during his five-year stint as manager between 2001 and 2006, reckons the veteran Scot still has “plenty of mileage” left in him ahead of a potential return north of the border.
“Some goalkeepers have gone on to 40. From what I have seen in his training and his expertise in that game, it just tells you experience is forever,” McLeish said. “I think he has got plenty of mileage in him right now.”

McGregor kept an incredible 115 clean sheets in 250 Rangers appearances before eventually leaving the club, after coming through the academy. He was handed his Gers debut by McLeish, as Ranges beat Forfar 6-0 back in February 2002.
The 38-time Scotland international is set to join the Gers on a free transfer, as his current contract with Hull City is set to expire on June 30.
This season, he has missed just one league game, featuring in 43 English Championship outings and captaining the Tigers three times.
