Scotland manager Alex McLeish has intimated to The Scotsman that he could drop Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon today and replace him with Rangers star Allan McGregor.

The Celtic stopper came under fire in the 4-0 defeat by Belgium on Friday for rolling the ball out to John McGinn, which ultimately lead to the Belgian’s first goal of the night.

McGregor has been in stunning form for Rangers as of late, and produced a number of superb saves in the Gers’ 1-0 defeat in last week’s Old Firm derby at Parkhead.

McLeish has previously heralded the competition for places in regards to the goalkeeper position, and the Scottish boss has hinted that McGregor could face Albania in the Nations League tomorrow.

“Allan has been there in the earlier games. Against Hungary – he did really well in that game,” he told The Scotsman.

“So I guess sometimes if someone has a really good game ahead of the other one who is maybe not there it kind of could look as if it is going their way.”

In truth, they are both very fine goalkeepers, but maybe it’s time for McGregor – who played in friendlies earlier this year – to come back in.

The Celtic man is brilliant on his day, but he is also susceptible to lapses in judgement.
