Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have been linked with Alex McCarthy of Southampton in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have been linked with Alex McCarthy, and Spurs and the Reds’ chances of securing the services of the Southampton goalkeeper may just have been boosted.
According to The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 09:54, Saturday, June 2, 2018), Tottenham and Liverpool are interested in signing McCarthy from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
It has also been reported that the 28-year-old goalkeeper wants a £60,000-a-week salary in order to sign a new deal, with his current contract running out at the end of next season.

According to Spotrac.com, the former England Under-21 international goalkeeper earns £40,000 per week at the Saints at the moment.
McCarthy joined Southampton from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in 2016 for a transfer fee of £3.5 million, according to The Mirror.

Boost for Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool?
McCarthy displayed Fraser Forster as the number one goalkeeper at Southampton this past season, but the 30-year-old England international could well regain his first-choice status during the 2018-19 campaign.
It will be interesting to see if the Saints are willing to pay £60,000 per week to McCarthy that the goalkeeper reportedly wants.
Liverpool and Tottenham will easily be able to afford that kind of salary, and the Saints could be forced to sell the former Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper this summer instead of taking the risk of losing him on a free next summer.
