Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will miss out on the signing of Alex Lowry because the Rangers midfielder has signed a new contract with the Ibrox club.
The Scottish Daily Express reported last month that Newcastle and Manchester City are interested in signing Lowry from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers in the summer transfer window.

However, Rangers have now announced on their official website that the 18-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a new deal.
The Scottish teenager has a contract extension with Rangers, keeping him at the club until 2025.
Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson has described Lowry as an “exciting” young player and has high hopes for him.

Keep monitoring
Lowry is a Rangers academy graduate who has done so well for the B team this season that he has made four appearances for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first team as well.
Now, the youngster may have signed a contract extension with Rangers, but that does not mean that Newcastle should stop keeping tabs on him.
On the contrary.
We think that Newcastle should keep on following Lowry even more closely, and maybe the Magpies could make a move in the next two or so years.
It is very likely that the teenager will become a regular in the Rangers first team in the coming years, and Newcastle should see how he does under pressure.
