According to The Sun, Everton are interested in a move for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers.
Chambers would be an interesting signing for the Toffees. After all, he is a versatile defender who would potentially solve their long-standing right-back problem.
However, even though he’s a defender, during Alex Iwobi’s time at Arsenal Chambers gave himself a nickname based on Cristiano Ronaldo.
What’s been said?
Iwobi claimed that Chambers started calling himself ‘Canaldo’ – a play on Ronaldo, after he scored a brilliant goal against Burnley.
“Oh my gosh, he’s still talking about it now,” Iwobi told Arsenal Player. “Everyone was talking about it in the showers. He was like “Canaldo is what they call him now”. It’s just funny,” Iwobi said.
“I think we played very well the whole game, even though we conceded a goal from a set-piece, which we weren’t too happy about. We feel like we did very well and are confident about going through to the next round.”

Not quite Ronaldo
Of course, Chambers’ nickname was all in good jest, and while Everton wouldn’t be getting Cristiano Ronaldo 2.0 if they signed the England international, they would be getting a very handy player.
Chambers hasn’t been given much of a chance at the Emirates, but he’s proven during loan spells with Middlesbrough and Fulham that he can still be an asset at this level.
Everton need some more depth in their defence, especially at full-back, and Chambers would provide that.
It’s clear that he already gets on with Iwobi, so this could be a great signing for the Merseyside club.
