The Tottenham Hotspur boss has been given the nod of approval by the legendary manager.

Sir Alex Ferguson has told German outlet Kicker that Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino has “fantastic potential” as a manager.

The 44-year-old is one of the hottest young managerial prospects in the world after transforming Tottenham in recent seasons.

Spurs mounted a serious Premier League title bid last term, but they look even stronger this time around after Pochettino addressed some weaknesses in the summer.

The Lilywhites, who remain the only side in the division who are yet to lose in the league this season, are fifth in the table but only a point separates them from leaders Manchester City.

And the legendary Manchester United manager has spoken very highly of the young coach, as well as Harry Kane and Eric Dier.

“For my money Mauricio Pochettino has fantastic potential,” he told Kicker, via The Guardian.

“Spurs have a good mix of youth and experience. Top players like Kane or Dier were injured but they’re still in a good position.”

By virtue of the fact that the Scot won 38 trophies during his phenomenally-sucessful stint as Red Devils boss, it would be fair to say that the 74-year-old knows a thing or two about football management and his words are a big compliment to Pochettino.

Ferguson met the Argentine for lunch back in May and it was touted that it could be in relation to the United job, which Louis van Gaal was on the verge of vacating, but the Spurs manager signed a new long-term contract with the North Londoners two days later to appease fans’ concerns…..for now.
