The legendary Scot had good things to say about the Arsenal youngster.
Legendary Scottish manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed to German outlet Kicker that he likes the look of Arsenal sensation Alex Iwobi.
The 20-year-old is the latest Arsenal youth product to come through the ranks and establish himself as a key first-team figure.
The Nigeria international has started eight of the Gunners’ 12 Premier League and Champions League outings so far this season in a fact which illustrates how highly manager Arsene Wenger rates him.
Iwobi burst on to the scene in the second half of last season with a number of performances which belied his 19 years – including an excellent showing at Camp Nou against Barcelona – and the former Manchester United boss admits he is impressed by the young man.
Arsenal have been excellent so far this season and Wenger’s side sit level with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.
And Fergie, who won the competition 13 times during his time at Old Trafford, says that it would be wrong to dismiss the North Londoners’ title credentials.
“You shouldn’t forget Arsenal. The team is more sturdy. They’ve got better and more aggressive. I’m impressed with the young boy Alex Iwobi,” he told Kicker, via The Independent.
Wenger’s side should, in theory, definitely win this weekend as they visit bottom-of-the-table Sunderland, who are yet to pick up a league victory this season.
