Leeds United lost Garry Monk to Middlesbrough this summer.
Alex Bruce has told BBC Radio Five Live that Garry Monk cannot be blamed for leaving Leeds United in favour of Championship rivals Middlesbrough.
Monk shocked Leeds back in May by resigning from his role as manager and Boro – who had been managerless since sacking Aitor Karanka in March – appointed him a little more than two weeks later.
His departure from Elland Road came only two days after controversial United owner Massimo Cellino was bought out by Andrea Radrizzani.

Monk had led the Whites to a seventh-placed Championship finish, though it should have been higher after the Yorkshire side managed one win from their last eight league matches.
On Teeside, the former Swansea City boss has spent close to £40 million on transfers this summer – comfortably more than any other side – and Boro, as a result, are among the favourites to win promotion straight back to the Premier League this season.
And Bruce, who spent two years at Leeds, told BBC Radio Five Live that swapping Elland Road for the Riverside makes perfect sense, all things considered.
“If you’re Garry Monk and you’ve got the choice, Leeds in turmoil, ownership where you don’t really know where it’s going, you’ve worked with Cellino and all the problems he brings, and you’ve got the choice to go and work for a good club in Middlesbrough, good facilities, a real chance of getting back in the Premier League, backed by a really good owner in Steve Gibson, there’s no decision to make is there?”
According to The Guardian, his contractual situation influenced Monk’s decision to quit, but Radrizzani posted on Twitter after his exit that a three-year contract had been tabled.
United, now under Thomas Christiansen, kick off their Championship season on Sunday with a trip to Bolton Wanderers.
