Tommy Elphick joined Hull City on loan from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

Wigan Athletic defender Alex Bruce has suggested on Twitter that his father Steve Bruce decided to send Tommy Elphick out on loan to Hull City from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window due to Financial Fair Play issues.
Elphick joined Hull on a season-long loan deal from Championship rivals Villa in the summer transfer window.
Bruce was in charge of Villa last summer, but the former Sunderland and Hull manager parted company with the Villans in October 2018.
Steve Bruce’s son, Alex Bruce – who is now at Wigan – has defended his father’s decision regarding incoming and outgoings at Villa in the summer of 2018.

Recalling Tommy Elphick
According to The Sunday People (print edition, page 50, December 23, 2018), Villa manager Dean Smith wants to recall Elphick from his loan spell at Hull (click here to read more).
The Villans have problems at the back, and they could do with someone with experience and in form such Elphick during the second half of the season.
The 31-year-old defender joined Villa from Bournemouth in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £3 million and when Roberto Di Matteo was the manager of the Villans.
