Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni has told Ashley Young on Instagram that he is ‘old’ after he signed a new contract at Aston Villa.
With the Aston Villa players, who weren’t on international duty last season, returning back to pre-season training, the Midlands club announced the return of Young.
The 36-year-old’s contract at Villa Park expired in June, but his journey, his second spell in Claret & Blue colours, continues.
Young isn’t going to be a regular under Steven Gerrard, but it’s what the 39-cap England international is going to provide off the field that is going to be as important as what he produces off it.
Nonetheless, when Young posted the following message to Villa fans after signing a one-year contract, his former teammate at the San Siro brilliant told him ‘you are old’, whilst John McGinn joked ‘not even one wrinkle yet’.
YOUNG 36 GOING ONTO 37
Young will turn 37 next week and it’s great to see the one-time Premier League winner still going strong in his career.
Someone like James Milner, who started as a fresh-faced teenager at Leeds, is still going strong in the colours of Liverpool.
Villa were luckily enough to see the two at the peak of their powers in the Midlands and it was the last time the club was also in Europe.
That’s the aim for Gerrard’s side ahead of the new season, with a couple of new faces being added in Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara.
The impact the defensive duo have on Villa might prove to be the difference in the European-chasing side getting over that line.
