Alejandro Faurlin and Shaun Derry celebrate a goal for QPR
Alejandro Faurlin may be playing his football in the sunnier climes of Madrid, but it appears the Getafe midfielder has not forgotten about Queens Park Rangers – nor his partner-in-crime Shaun Derry.
Together, the pair helped the R’s to promotion as Championship winners in 2011, missing just seven league matches between them all season, but were split two years on when Derry became the manager of hometown team Notts County.
Derry’s efforts in a QPR shirt have not gone unnoticed by the club, however, who inducted him into their ex-players’ association – The Forever R’s Club – ahead of Tuesday’s win against Barnsley.
Afterwards, the 39-year-old, who is now the boss of Cambridge United, tweeted: “Thanks to everyone @QPRFC for welcoming me into The Forever R’s Club last night. It’s a great honour for me.”
And Faurlin replied: “Well deserved partner!!! Was a privilege to share the field with you!!!we did fought some battles together buddy!!”
Faurlin was finally released by QPR in 2016 after seven years of service, joining Spanish second tier outfit Getafe following the club’s relegation.
The Argentine has made 15 appearances for his new side, scoring two goals and creating another.
