The Liverpool left-back has made huge strides this season.

Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno has had plenty of criticism during his time at Anfield but his latest performance showed just how far he has come, even if some naysayers continue to voice their frustration.
The 25-year-old was expected to fall further down the pecking order following Andy Robertson’s arrival on Merseyside earlier this summer. However Moreno has been a regular both in the league and in Europe and his showing against Sevilla showed his overall progress under manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Spaniard bombed forward at every opportunity and grabbed an assist on the night, and while the defensive side of his game still needs some work that, too, is improving.
Dejan Lovren is the player to be blamed for Liverpool’s failure to see out what would have been a big victory in their opening match of the group stages, yet some fans continue to slam Moreno and refuse to acknowledge his development.

Yes, the best modern full-backs are superb in both attack and defence, but Moreno is still improving and there is no doubting his impact when he pushes forward down the left side, causing problems for the opponents time and again and setting up chances for Liverpool’s forwards with his direct running and penetrating crosses.
The Liverpool defender will always have his critics, but considering how little he played last season he deserves far more praise, especially when footballers with considerably more Premier League experience continue to make silly mistakes far too regularly.
