Alberto Moreno wrote on Instagram that Jordan Henderson’s new contract with Liverpool is ‘well deserved’.
Liverpool didn’t bring any new faces in on transfer deadline day, but a number of their star men did sign new contracts.
One of them included their captain and hard-hitting midfielder, Henderson, who extended his stay until 2025.
This news would have been a relief to many of the Anfield faithful because it arrived after a few bumpy roads.
Henderson received a number of well-wishes when he signed on that dotted line, including from the likes of Lucas Leiva, Moreno and Dejan Lovren.
Former midfielder Leiva wrote: “Congrats mate. Well deserved.” Whilst Moreno added: Congrats captain. Well deserved amigo.”
Lovren issued this three-word response to his former teammate: “Well deserved skip.”
There might be some Liverpool fans who are disappointed that more fresh faces didn’t arrive during the summer transfer window.
The Reds splashed the cash on a new central defender, but perhaps some felt more work needed to be done in the final third.
Not a case of players being replaced, but more depth and quality being added to a forward line that has had to work under immense pressure for several years now.
Either way, this is a situation Jurgen Klopp has been used to and thrived under, so there’s no reason why he can’t go again.
