Aston Villa’s Albert Adomah was reportedly close to leaving on Friday.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah wants to fight for his future and prove manager Steve Bruce wrong for being ready to let him go.
Villa failed with late moves to bring in Harold Moukoudi and Scott McKenna, but did land Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on loan for the season in a major coup.
One player did almost leave Villa Park though, as winger Albert Adomah was allowed to go, but the Birmingham Mail report that a deal to leave fell through on Friday.
It’s claimed that Adomah was wanted by Leeds United and Middlesbrough, but whilst a deal was agreed with Middlesbrough, it fell through when the terms of the deal were changed, with Boro only keen on a loan deal.
The report adds that Adomah loves Villa and is frustrated at how his career is turning for the worse, but wants to prove manager Bruce for attempting to let him go for the second summer in a row.

30-year-old Adomah starred last season with 14 goals and five assists to his name, so the Ghanaian international could still be of use to Bruce, but the writing does seem to be on the wall for Adomah despite his determination.
Villa just brought in two new wingers having landed Yannick Bolasie and Anwar El Ghazi, meaning Adomah appears to be slipping down the pecking order, and it seems unlikely that he will save his Villa career under Bruce for a second time.
