Is Albert Adomah going to come back into form at just the right time for Aston Villa?
Aston Villa made it six Championship wins in a row on Saturday by beating Burton Albion 3-2 at Villa Park.
In doing so, Steve Bruce’s side remain firmly in the hunt for an automatic promotion place and a return to form for one man can give Villa the boost needed to finish second come May.
Albert Adomah scored his first goal in seven Championship games on Saturday, which represented quite a barren spell by virtue of the fact that he managed 11 in the first half of the campaign.
And if the 30-year-old can rediscover his goalscoring touch for the remainder of the season then surely Aston Villa fans can expect a very successful last few months.
The West Midlands outfit are third and only a point behind Derby County in second, but a free-scoring Adomah can help them overhaul the Rams’ slender advantage en route to sealing an automatic return to the top tier.
Adomah has really stepped up this season after scoring only three times last term after a £5 million move from Middlesbrough and Bruce needs him to be consistent.
Three of Aston Villa’s victories during this six-match winning streak have been narrow 1-0 results – all three were away games – and that indicates that the veteran manager doesn’t have an abundance of firepower.
But the London-born Ghana international certainly has the goals in him to enhance Villa’s scorelines and with it their automatic promotion hopes.
