The Aston Villa winger should be given another chance to show what he can do from the kick-off.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has a problem. He must find a winning formula for a side that, despite wholesale changes in January, continues to struggle at the wrong end of the Championship table.

One player alone cannot stop the rot, but after starting Villa’s last two matches on the substitutes’ bench Albert Adomah deserves a starting place for this evening’s clash against Barnsley.

The 29-year-old was granted only six minutes against Nottingham Forest and just 23 minutes against Ipswich Town last weekend, so what chance a run out from the kick-off tonight?

Only time will tell but Adomah showed with his brace against Preston North End what he is capable of and while he – and his teammates – were well below par the following game against Brentford, he does not deserve a prolonged spell on the periphery.

Villa need spark and Adomah offers that. After all, things cannot get much worse for Bruce and his players and ignoring a player who can genuinely shake things up may be yet another mistake in a season full of them.
