Gomez has been linked with a move to Leeds after previously working under Marcelo Bielsa.

Ibai Gomez has responded to rumours about his future and a potential reunion with Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United by posting a Tweet to Alaves fans.
Goal claim that 29-year-old Gomez is a January transfer target for Championship promotion contenders Leeds as they look to beef up their options in the final third, in a bid to finally gain a place in the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
Gomez has been in sensational form for Alaves this season, scoring three goals and creating two more in 12 La Liga appearances – but his contract with the top-tier Spanish side expires at the end of the season.
Bielsa handed Gomez his Europa League and Copa Del Rey debuts during his time with Athletic Bilbao, who Gomez finally left in 2016 to join Alaves. Now, with his future uncertain, Gomez took to Twitter to react to recent reports.
The Tweet is translated as: “That’s some news. Good thing they have zero credibility and that who knows me knows I could never be so ungrateful. I am clear that when whatever happens, I will do it by giving my face and being honest as I have always been.”
Gomez played 75 times for Bielsa at Bilbao and clearly still boasts plenty of talent to be able to continue scoring in the top flight. Leeds do have options out wide, in Gjanni Alioski, Jack Clarke, Stuart Dallas, Pablo Hernandez and Jack Harrison.
Gomez is available on a free under a pre-contract agreement, thanks to the Bosman ruling. But he could also be available on the cheap, with Alaves likely to want avoid losing him on a free – meaning they will have to cash in, in January.
It remains to be seen if Leeds are really interested, and whether Gomez would be tempted with a move to Yorkshire.
