Ben Davies isn’t the most celebrated Tottenham Hotspur player.
In fact, he might have the lowest profile of anybody in Jose Mourinho’s squad right now and it’s possibly been that way since he joined the North Londoners six years ago.
But it looks like the Wales defender’s importance is beginning to shine through, if a report from Football London is accurate.
Alasdair Gold, who was on site as Tottenham beat West Ham United 2-0 on Tuesday night, has written of his observations about Davies’s performance.
The Football London journalist has revealed that Davies was constantly talking with Steven Bergwijn when the Dutch winger came on, and that the former was regularly lavishing ‘praise and encouragement’ on his other team-mates over their defensive duties.
The former Swansea City star, who was signed by Mauricio Pochettino in 2014, clearly has a bigger role than quite a few Spurs fans probably realise.
It seems like he might be something of an unsung hero but providing his team-mates’ recognise his contribution, that’s all that matters.
