Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has delivered an update on Tottenham’s chances of landing Paulo Dybala this summer.
The Argentine has been linked with a move to Tottenham by a number of outlets, but it seems as though this isn’t a deal that is all that likely right now.
Indeed, due to the ongoing financial situation brought on by the pandemic and Tottenham still paying off their new stadium, the London club may find it hard to afford such a deal unless they sell a big player.
“Paulo Dybala is obviously a player Spurs have liked in the past. A talented player, but what I would say is finance-wise, Spurs would have to raise a lot of money to buy him, even though his contract is getting towards its end. I still think in terms of the money that would be required to buy him, it would be a lot,” Gold said.
“I don’t know whether reports are lobbing him in there because of previous interest or what, but finance-wise, there are other priorities right now. I think it’d be terrific. I’d love to see Dybala at Tottenham, but you’d have to lose a mega-player to have the funds to bring in Dybala.”

It seems as though this one may not be in the pipeline, unless Spurs are forced into selling one of their top stars.
There’s a debate to be had about whether or not it would be worth selling someone like Heung-min Son or Harry Kane in order to finance a deal for Dybala, but that would be a gamble, and we don’t envy Daniel Levy for having to make that decision.
