Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has shared an update on Gareth Bale’s future at Tottenham beyond this season.
Spurs don’t have an official option to extend Bale’s stay, but Gold says that the London club do have first dibs on re-signing him next summer.
After his recent good run of form, this may be a deal that Tottenham want to take advantage of.
“I’m probably going to make myself very unpopular here with some people, but I’ve noticed there’s been some reports today saying that there’s no option for Spurs to have a second year,” Gold said.
“I can just say what I know, at the time I reported this, and I checked into it again today to confirm, and I’m still led to believe that it’s the case that Tottenham do have a first option on a second-season loan, so they have first dibs on taking him again, and from what I understand, it’s on the same terms as this season, which if I remember correctly is roughly around 40-45 per cent of his wages, which is terrific, it is a really good deal.”

Spurs are able to keep Bale on the same terms next season, and that’s fantastic to hear.
The Welsh winger is finally coming into his own in north London, and while he hasn’t been at his best for the majority of the season, he’s looking really sharp at the moment.
Of course, whether or not Spurs want to take up this deal is a decision that the club has to make, but from the outside looking in, it seems as though this is something Tottenham should explore.
