Chris Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport that Jose Mourinho’s recent comments about Tottenham are ‘alarming’.
Whilst France legend, Frank Leboeuf, thinks this is why players start ‘hating’ the Tottenham manager and he feels such a situation could occur during these coming months, as he told ESPN.
Following Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against relegation-threatened Newcastle, Mourinho claimed that his side’s inability to hold onto a lead is down to the fact that it is ‘same coach, different players’, as he told BBC Sport.
Former Premier League players, Sutton and Leboeuf, shared their thoughts on Mourinho’s comments.
“When you saw Jose’s comments after the game,” said Sutton. “I have to say they were pretty alarming. ‘Same coach. Different player’.”
Leboeuf added: “No wonder he doesn’t stay too long at every club he has been at because players are going to start hating him. That’s the reason why he doesn’t stay long.
“The players have an ego. Perhaps not as high as Mourinho’s ego but they have an ego and they say ‘we are going to show to that **** that we are better than he thinks and we are going to make sure he goes away after that’.
“So, I am sure, the Tottenham players are going to go for it. They are going to try and win the League Cup. But some players are going to speak out and say we don’t want to stay with him. We don’t want somebody who thrashes us and thinks he’s the best in the world.”

Whilst Tottenham will still try to push for the top four, all eyes will be on that League Cup final against Manchester City.
Lose that and it may well spell the start of the end for Mourinho in North London.
The issue is whilst Mourinho’s forthright ways don’t sit well with certain people, he is speaking the truth about how these Tottenham players simply aren’t good enough.
After all, he was appointed Tottenham boss because Mauricio Pochettino got the sack and he got sacked for the performances on the pitch, which everyone is seeing once again.
