Tim Sherwood has claimed that Liverpool possibly losing Michael Edwards to Real Madrid should send ‘alarm bells’ around the club, as he told Sky Sports News (31/10/21 at 2:20 pm).
The former Premier League title-winner suggested that Edwards was the one who brought someone like Mo Salah to the football club – although he can’t see the Liverpool goalscoring machine leaving for anyone.
During his time in the Liverpool boardroom, Edwards has been the brain behind the club’s transfer operations – and now he could be headed to Madrid, as reported by the Mirror.
Added with that, the Athletic report that his contract, which is due to expire next summer, won’t be renewed.
The 41-year-old has received huge plaudits for how he has run the ship, both from players that have come into the club and those that have left Merseyside.
Sherwood shared his thoughts on Liverpool’s Sporting Director possibly leaving for Real Madrid, as he also made a defiant claim about Salah’s situation.
“I don’t think anyone would want to leave Liverpool, why would you?” asked Sherwood. “Obviously, Mo Salah is the big question mark. Where is he going to go?
“The Sporting Director Michael Edwards, it looks like he’s going to leave and go to Real Madrid, which is alarm bells, for me.
“He is the one who brought Mo Salah into the football club.
“But he’s (Salah) the huge one. He can’t go anywhere to the Premier League. He won’t go to Barcelona. Real Madrid is the only place. Or PSG, for the money.”

Whilst certain Premier League clubs spend £100 million on players they don’t need, or others have big-money signings sitting on the bench that have hardly been used.
Those at Anfield, have taken a different direction and they have continued that this summer.
Only one senior signing was brought in by Jurgen Klopp in the summer, with the Reds going down the road of signing their key players to longer-term contracts.
That’s probably why Klopp is respected more than others because, pound-for-pound, he is proving to be the best manager in the world.
