Questions remain over future of Everton ace.
Ross Barkley
Speculation has increased over the future of Everton attacker Ross Barkley after the club signed Ajax playmaker Davy Klaassen.
Barkley has refused to sign a new contract with the Toffees and has just one year on his current deal remaining.
His stance has frustrated the club and they have now made clear they are moving on with Klaassen’s arrival.
Former Everton defender Alan Stubbs believes his exit is now inevitable, and believes Arsenal instead of Tottenham could be the best option for the 23-year-old.
Speaking to Talksport, Stubbs said that Barkley would find it too tough to establish himself in Tottenham’s team.
He said: “Looking at those teams I think Arsenal are probably a team that he could go to.
“With Tottenham you have got Dele Alli in a similar position and, looking at Dele, he is ahead of Ross at this moment in time.
“So it’s looking like he’s going to be heading to London – we just have to wait and find out what club it is.”
Everton’s Ross Barkley
Arsenal have their own questions over the future of Mesut Ozil, whose deal expires in just 12 months.
The Mail reported recently that both Arsenal and Tottenham are keen on the attacker, although Everton are likely to drive a hard bargain.
