Nottingham Forest reportedly wanted to sign John McGinn from Hibernian in the summer transfer window.

According to The Scottish Sun, Forest in the Championship in England wanted to sign the 23-year-old midfielder from Hibernian.
It has also been reported that Forest manager Mark Warburton may try to sign the Scotland international again in the January transfer window.
Stubbs worked with McGinn when he was in charge of Hibernian, and the former Sunderland centre-back has revealed that he told the ex-St. Mirren star not to leave Easter Road.

“I spoke to John when there was a bit of interest from Forest and I told him not to go because I think he will get a better move than that,” Stubbs told The Scottish Sun. “He has got a great opportunity.
“Forest are a really good club but I think the way he is playing, if there is only one option from Forest in the window, come the next one, there will be a lot more.”

McGinn is one of the best young midfielders in the Scottish Premiership and is playing well for Hibernian at the moment.
Hibs are aiming to finish in the top three or second in the league this season, and the midfielder will be a key figure in that quest.
Meanwhile, Forest are aiming to clinch a playoff spot in the Championship and stand a chance of getting promoted to the Premier League for the 2018-19 campaign.
