Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have still not appointed a permanent replacement for Mark Warburton.
Alan Stubbs has told BBC Sport that he believes Pedro Caixinha would be a great appointment for Glasgow Rangers.
Caixinha is currently the odds on favour to take over at the Ibrox side, following Mark Warburton’s departure.
Stubbs and Caixinha were on the same coaching course last year, and the former Rotherham manager has recommended the Portuguese boss.
“I think he could be very good,” Stubbs said.
“It is a left-field choice because I don’t think anyone would have thought of this in the first place, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a right fit for the club.
“He could come and do fantastically well and the board would be judged to have made a great signing – only time will tell.
“But he’s got the right tools to do a very good job at Rangers and that’s the most important thing.”
Caixinha has already hinted that he would be interested in taking the Rangers job, and he is believed to have been interviewed.
The 46-year-old is currently heavily odds-on to take over at Rangers, and he is expected to be announced as the new manager in the near future.
Caixinha’s managerial career to date has seen him manage in Mexico, Portugal and, most recently, Qatar.
Rangers are currently in third place in the Scottish Premiership table, after a fairly disappointing season.
If Caixinha does take charge this week, his first game in charge of the Glasgow club will come against fierce rivals Celtic at the weekend.
