Manchester United have allegedly scouted Celtic left back Kieran Tierney twice this month.

Pundit Alan Stubbs has been quoted by BBC Sport as saying that a Manchester United scout attended Celtic’s games with Paris Saint-Germain and Dundee, with Kieran Tierney named as their target.
The Bhoys have enjoyed a strong month domestically, having beaten Hamilton Academical 4-1, Ross County 4-0 and Dundee 4-0 – but their Champion League exploits didn’t go to plan, having been thrashed 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain.
Wednesday’s 4-0 Scottish League Cup win over Dundee sends them into the semi-finals of the competition, and one player appears to have been attracting major interest so far this month.

During coverage of Wednesday’s clash, pundit and former Celtic defender Alan Stubbs told BBC Sport that a Manchester United scout was in attendance having also watched the clash with PSG, and Kieran Tierney was named as the target involved.
Tierney, 20, has come up through the ranks with Celtic having joined the club at the age of just seven, and he has emerged as one of the top young left backs in Europe.
Already a six-cap Scotland international, Tierney has not only impressed at left back, but also when called into action at centre back and even right back, with Premier League clubs no doubt looking at him.

United’s need for a left back has been clear this season, as Jose Mourinho has been unable to settle on his starter, with Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young all featuring there so far this term, whilst Luke Shaw is also vying for playing time.
Mourinho may now view Tierney as the long-term solution to United’s issues at left back, and Celtic will be hoping for a premium price given that many now feel that the Bhoys sold Virgil van Dijk too cheaply in 2015.
