Tottenham Hotspur managed to end their season on a high, beating Leicester City 4-2 at the King Power Stadium.

Gareth Bale’s late brace helped Spurs come from 2-1 down to claim a big win, securing European football for next season.

Not everyone had a great afternoon against the Foxes though, with Davinson Sanchez again looking a little shaky.

The Colombian clearly has so much talent, but he’s prone to inconsistency and a crippling mistake, as we saw against Leicester.

Sanchez struggled with the movement of Jamie Vardy all day, and then gave away a penalty by bringing down Vardy for Leicester’s second goal.

This wasn’t what Sanchez was looking for as he returned to the starting XI, and he may well be replaced by Spurs this summer.

Pundit Alan Smith wasn’t too impressed with Sanchez’s performance during the Sky Sports coverage of the game (23/05), suggesting that he was given a tough time by Vardy throughout.

“He’s really struggled with the movement of Vardy,” said Smith. “He must be feeling a bit twitchy when he’s faced with those one-v-ones.”

Smith then agreed that Sanchez was being ‘run ragged’ by Vardy and wasn’t enjoying himself at all, whilst adding that Vardy certainly was enjoying the battle.

Sanchez’s place at Tottenham is far from secure amid interest from former club Ajax, and it was more of the same from him; some good moments, but mixed in with unconvincing and shaky moments.

The defender just hasn’t kicked on since his £42million move from Ajax, and his inability to handle Vardy on Sunday may be yet another sign that Tottenham need to improve at centre back.
