Alan Smith has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Newcastle United’s game against Tottenham Hotspur, that he was watching Steve Bruce’s side warm-up and the quality wasn’t great.

Newcastle were doing a shooting drill, but according to Smith their finishing was not very impressive.

The comments come after Paul Dummett suggested that Newcastle didn’t look right in the warm-up last week.

But Smith didn’t sense a lack of effort from the Newcastle players this time around.

He said: “I was watching a bit of the crossing and the finishing [in the warm-up], and I’ve got to say the quality wasn’t of the highest. But that’s not to say that they weren’t trying.”

Regardless of how Newcastle warmed up yesterday, they still picked up an impressive result.

Newcastle went on to win 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and there was nothing wrong with their finishing during the game.
