Alan Smith told Super Sunday on Sky Sports that Alexandre Lacazette looked ‘disappointed’ when he was forced off injured during Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Fulham on Sunday.

The 29-year-old, who has been in red-hot form of late, pulled up off the ball just after the hour mark and just as Mikel Arteta had made two changes.

With a crucial Europa League semi-final looming, the last thing Arsenal need is their top-scorer spending time in the treatment room.

Nonetheless, this is what ex-Gunners hitman, Smith, had to say in commentary when Lacazette was forced off.

“It’s bad news for Arsenal this if it’s going to keep him out for a few weeks,” said Smith. “Hopefully, not.

“He certainly looks disappointed.”

The problem facing Lacazette is that if he has to spend time out then it might end up ruling him out for the rest of the campaign given the little time left in the season.

Either way, for Arsenal’s sake, hopefully, it was just a little scare because, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out, this could be a troublesome situation for the club.

If Lacazette cannot make it then it’s time for either Eddie Nketiah to step up or Gabriel Martinelli to be provided with that role up top.
