Christian Eriksen started for Tottenham Hotspur as they beat Cardiff City 3-0 in the Premier League.

Alan Smith has lauded the performance of Christian Eriksen and stated he is as ‘smooth as silk’ following Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Cardiff City on New Year’s Day.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side opened the scoring after three minutes through star striker Harry Kane before Eriksen got in on the act 11 minutes later before Heung-min Son netted his side’s third goal just before the break.
The result in Wales puts Spurs above Manchester City in the table, with Pep Guardiola’s side hosting Premier League leaders Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday.
Former Arsenal striker Smith waxed-lyrical about the Spurs playmaker whilst on commentating duty with Sky Sports as he awarded him with the Man of the Match award.
“It’s Christian Eriksen [Man of the Match],” Smith told Sky Sports during his co-commentary duties on 01/01/2019 at 7:15 pm.
“I think he has been as smooth as silk out there today. Cardiff players haven’t been able to get near him, haven’t been able to touch him. Pure class out there.”
Over the course of the season, Eriksen has played 18 league matches for his side, scoring four goals and supplying seven assists to his teammates.

The London club, who are in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, will be hoping to lift their first trophy under Pochettino this season.
Just like the rest of England, teams will now take a two-week break from league action, with the FA Cup set to take centre stage over the weekend.
The London outfit will travel to Merseyside club Tranmere Rovers on Friday night before they host Chelsea in the first-leg of the EFL Cup four days later.
