The Liverpool midfielder scored a late winner in the clash with Celtic

Speaking to Sky Sports, Alan Smith has praised Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana’s performance for England in the win over Slovakia.
The midfielder proved to be the hero for the Three Lions on Sunday as he scored a dramatic, late winner to give Sam Allardyce a win in his first game in charge of the national side.
The strike was his first international goal and just rewards for a display that had seen England dominate throughout, especially after Martin Skrtel’s red card.

And Smith has praised his all-round display, saying he deserved his goal having come close to scoring just before that.
“Adam Lallana was England’s best player,” he told Sky Sports.
“His overall game was lovely, neat and tidy and inventive. He deserved the goal and he hit the post a few minutes before that.”

Lallana will now be hoping he can build on this performance and ensure that his second England goal does not take as long to arrive as his first one.
There is no denying the qualities that he brings to the side but his lack of goals and assists leaves many questioning why he continues to get into the first-team.
If he can get goals like the one against Slovakia on a regular basis though, few will question his inclusion in future squads.
