Alan Shearer has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Newcastle United’s win against Southampton and has praised Joe Willock among other players.
The Newcastle legend is over the moon with the 3-2 victory for the Magpies against Southampton at St. James’ Park in the Premier League today.
The former England international striker has praised Miguel Almiron, Isaac Hayden and Willock, who was making his debut for the Magpies following his loan move from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window.
How did Joe Willock play against Southampton?
Willock started for Newcastle and opened the scoring for Steve Bruce’s side after just 16 minutes.
It was a good goal, and the young midfielder also imposed himself in the middle of the park and made his presence felt.
According to WhoScored, the 21-year-old played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 60%, took 35 touches, played two key passes, attempted two dribbles, made five tackles, two interceptions and two clearances, and put in one cross.
It was a very good debut from Willock, who will hope to have a successful loan spell at Newcastle.
