Newcastle United are top of the Championship again after their win against Brentford.
Newcastle United have gone to the top of the Championship after picking up a 2-1 win at Griffin Park against Brentford.
That result, combined with Brighton’s loss against Preston North End, saw Newcastle head back to the summit of the second-tier.
It was a tough performance against an unfortunate Brentford side but in the end Rafa Benitez’s men did enough to pick up all three points.

It was a result that certainly pleased the club’s record goalscorer and former interim manager Alan Shearer.
He sent out this tweet immediately after the game as Newcastle continue their march toward promotion:
He was not the only former Newcastle player to do so. Peter Lovenkrands was also pleased to see his old side do so well and head back top of the league:
Newcastle United have been the favourites to win promotion from the Championship since the start of the season and fans are certainly expecting them to do just that.
But in Brighton they have tough rivals for top spot. Now they are back on top of the table however Newcastle fans will hope they can stay there for the rest of the season.
