Alan Shearer has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the penalty incident during Newcastle United’s win against Everton this afternoon.

Newcastle have got the better of Everton 2-1 at St.James’ Park in the Premier League today.

Callum Wilson scored both the goals for the Magpies, first in the 56th minute from the penalty spot and then on 84 minutes.

Wilson himself won the penalty after Andre Gomes was adjudged to have committed a foul on him inside the Everton penalty box.

Newcastle legend Shearer has stated on Twitter that the former Bournemouth striker did make the most of the foul.

Encouraging result for Newcastle United

Everton have been in good form this season, and it is a very good result for Newcastle.

Although it was a controversial penalty, Newcastle did do well over the course of the 90 minutes and were 2-0 up until injury time.

Steve Bruce’s side will return to action on Friday evening when they take on Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League.

The Magpies are 10th in the Premier League table at the moment with 11 points from seven matches.
