Alan Shearer has praised Newcastle United forward Joelinton on Twitter for his performance against Brentford today.

The Newcastle legend was impressed by the display produced by Joelinton in the first half of the Premier League game against Brentford at St. James’ Park.

Shearer said that the forward was “superb”.

The 25-year-old Brazilian scored in the 39th minute and worked hard throughout his time on the pitch.

The match finished in a 3-3 draw.

Encouraging from Joelinton

This was Eddie Howe’s first game in charge of Newcastle.

The Englishman was actually not at St. James’ Park this afternoon because he has contacted Covid-19.

However, it was clear to see today the impact that Howe has made on the team already.

Yes, defensively Newcastle were poor, but they attacked well and played with a lot more intensity than they did under Steve Bruce.

Joelinton had one of his best games in a Newcastle shirt, especially in the first half.

The 25-year-old started on the right of a front-three, worked hard and linked up well.

And he scored a goal.

Joelinton could have added to his tally in the second half as well.

The attacker took four shots and two were on target.

The Newcastle forward also played two key passes.

It was a very encouraging display from the Brazilian.

Joelinton has not been at his best at Newcastle, but today’s signs were very positive indeed.
