Newcastle United legend and now turned football pundit, Alan Shearer has showered praise on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

The Coral, a popular betting organisation, posted a question on Twitter, whether or not Kane is the best striker England have had since Shearer.

Shearer was a great player during his playing days, and is considered one of the best ever to have played for England. He scored 30 goals for his country in 63 games.

His club record is equally enviable. Shearer scored 130 goals in just 171 games for the Blackburn Rovers, and 206 goals in 405 games for the Magpies.

Shearer reacted to the question saying “He is good.”

Kane is a fantastic young striker who has a bright career ahead of him. The 23-year-old striker has scored over 25 goals in his last three seasons.

The 2016/17 season was his best by far, where he scored 35 goals in all te competitions, of which 30 came in the Premier League itself.

He has been recently handed the England captaincy by Gareth Southgate, and he responded to the task by scoring against Scotland and France.

Kane has started his club and international career in a strong way, but he still has a long way to go to become one of England’s all time greats.

Some may argue that Wayne Rooney, in his prime, was a better player than him.

An appreciation from Shearer, arguably one of England’s greatest ever striker, only proves that Kane is heading in the right direction to achieve greatness.
