Alan Shearer has told BBC Sport, during their live coverage last night, that Liverpool’s coaching staff rate both Curtis Jones and Rafael Camacho very highly.

Liverpool played both Jones and Camacho against Wolverhampton Wanderers last night in the FA Cup.

The young duo did not look out of place either, even though Liverpool slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Molineux.

And Shearer says that Liverpool coaches have very high hopes for the pair of them.

“I was speaking to the Liverpool coaching staff and they rate Curtis and Rafael Camacho,” he said.

“He [Camacho] can play anywhere across the midfield, they tell me he loves a tackle, he’s got a great engine and he can pick a pass.”

Jones and Camacho have both caught the eye for Liverpool’s development side this season, with the pair thought to be on the verge of Jurgen Klopp’s side’s first team now.

Curtis Jones of Liverpool in warms up before a pre-season friendly match between Bury and Liverpool at Gigg Lane on July 14, 2018 in Bury, England.

Jones and Camacho were both making their senior debuts for Liverpool last night, but they were unable to get a win on their first start.

Liverpool did score through Divock Origi, but goals from Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves proved their undoing.

Liverpool’s domestic focus will now solely be on winning the Premier League, with Klopp’s side enjoying a four point gap at the top of the league currently.
