Newcastle United hero Alan Shearer shared an eight-word tweet after Lewis Miley became the Toon’s youngest player to score a Premier League goal against Fulham.
The midfielder gave the Magpies the breakthrough as they faced the Cottagers at St James’ Park on Saturday. Miley fired home his first career senior goal in the 57th minute against the 10-men of Fulham, after striker Raul Jimenez (22’) received a red card early on at Newcastle.
Miley is now the youngest player to score a goal in the Premier League for Newcastle at just 17 years and 229 days. He is also the youngest player to score in the English top-flight since Federico Macheda’s debut effort for Manchester United in April 2009 at 17 years, 226 days.

Seeing Miley score his first goal in first-team football and break one of Newcastle’s Premier League records also brought Shearer joy. The Toon legend took to the social media platform previously known as Twitter to revel in his breakthrough effort against Fulham on Saturday.
“Ah man, what a feeling for Lewis Miley!” Shearer simply posted on X following his goal.

The visit of Fulham to Tyneside only marked Miley’s 11th appearance in the Newcastle first-team squad so far. Eddie Howe handed the Toon product his senior debut in May with their trip to Chelsea at 17 years, 27 days. He also made his Champions League bow in November.
Now, Miley has continued his breakthrough to become the youngest Premier League player to score a goal in 14 years. Miley was also only two years old when Macheda scored on his debut for Manchester United. It was the winning effort at home to Aston Villa in April 2009.
