Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp celebrates scoring their second goal
Prolific striker Billy Sharp completed a dream weekend by winning the League One Player of the Year Award.
Sharp’s Sheffield United clinched promotion back to the Championship after a prolonged spell in England’s third tier.
His exploits have not gone unnoticed, with his award win congratulated by Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer.
The Newcastle United legend reached out to Sharp on Twitter to express his admiration for the Blades star.
Sharp has netted 26 goals this season for United, and will fancy his chances of hitting the milestone figure of 30.
As well as winning the League One award, Sharp was also named in the EFL’s Team of the Season, open for selection for players from across three divisions.
He is in his second season of this spell at Sheffield United after signing from Leeds United in 2015.
