Alan Shearer has reacted on Twitter to Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle United this afternoon.

Arsenal loanee Joe Willock scored a last-minute equaliser for Newcastle at Anfield in a result that harms Liverpool’s hopes of Champions League qualification.

Minutes earlier, the Magpies had a goal farcically disallowed after a VAR check, with Callum Wilson adjudged to have handled the ball shortly before tapping into an empty net.

It was another example of the silly laws that exist in football, but Liverpool were undone when Willock tapped home, via a deflection off Fabinho.

Here’s how Shearer reacted on Twitter:

Was it deserved? Well that’s up for debate.

Liverpool could and probably should have been winning about 4-0 at the break, but Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah – who opened the scoring early on – all fluffed gilt-edged opportunities for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

As a result of the two dropped points, the reigning Premier League champions, who began the afternoon in sixth, missed the chance to move into the top four ahead of the final five games of the season.
