Alan Shearer has claimed on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur were lucky to earn a point from the North London derby against Arsenal at the weekend.

Tottenham played out a 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners could have picked up all three points from the encounter had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang been able to convert a late penalty.

Following the match, Tottenham striker Harry Kane, 25, said that the point was the least that Mauricio Pochettino’s side deserved, as quoted on BBC Sport.

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer, though, does not agree with Kane, and has stated on Twitter that Spurs were lucky to pick up a point from the North London derby.

The draw with Arsenal means that Tottenham are now third in the Premier League table with 61 points from 29 matches.

Pochettino’s side are nine points behind second-placed Liverpool and 10 points behind leaders Manchester City, and it does appear that their chances of winning the league title this season are gone.
