Newcastle United legend and now football pundit Alan Shearer believes that Tottenham Hotspur have some of the top players in the Premier League.
Writing a column for The Sun, Shearer says he was taken aback by Mauricio Pochettino’s comments about Spurs’ 4-2 defeat against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.
“To fight in this moment, at that level against Chelsea, the big side in England is fantastic. It is a big thing for us,” said Pochettino after the match.
Shearer says this Tottenham should improve their mentality in order to win silverware. He says that Pochettino’s squad are well equipped to challenge the very best.

The former Newcastle striker adds that Spurs are blessed with some excellent talent in every department. He rates Hugo Lloris as one of the best in the league; hails Dele Alli as the most exciting young English player; describes Harry Kane as probably the best striker; and claims Toby Alderweireld is the best centre-back in the league.
“They have one of if not the best goalkeeper in the league in Hugo Lloris, the best centre half in Toby Alderweireld. There are two cracking midfielders in Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama,” wrote Shearer for The Sun.
“Christian Eriksen’s distribution is top class. Dele Alli is the most exciting young English player out there and Harry Kane is probably the best striker.”
Shearer has criticised Pochettino’s tactics for using Son Heung-Min as a left wing back. Son’s performance has been great going forward in recent matches, but he didn’t look comfortable in his new position on Saturday.
Alderweireld, undoubtedly, has been one of the best central defenders in the Premier League this season, but surprisingly he was omitted from the 2017 PFA Team of the year.
