Alan Shearer has criticised Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen for their performances this season.

Pundit Alan Shearer has told The Sun that he thinks none of Tottenham’s summer signings have improved them this season.

Spurs travelled to Chelsea on Saturday evening as they looked to beat the Blues at Stamford Bridge for the first time since 1990, and it looked to be going their way when Christian Eriksen smashed Tottenham in front with a long-range strike.

However, Tottenham couldn’t hold onto that lead as Pedro curled home an equaliser for Chelsea, and Victor Moses then grabbed the winner, turning him a cross from Diego Costa to hand Chelsea a seventh straight victory in the Premier League.

The result ended Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season, continued their winless run at Stamford Bridge towards 27 years, and leaves them with just one victory in the last ten games in all competitions.

With those factors in mind, Mauricio Pochettino has endured a tough time of late, and when you add in that he saw Tottenham crash out of the Champions League in midweek with a 2-1 defeat at Monaco, there are some who are pointing the finger of blame at the Argentinian.

Now, after Saturday’s result, pundit Alan Shearer has analysed Tottenham’s situation, and told The Sun that he thinks their summer transfers have failed to improve them since their failed bid for the Premier League title last season.

The likes of Vincent Janssen, Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou have failed to impress since signing for Spurs over the summer, and whilst Victor Wanyama has exceeded expectations for many, Shearer claims none of them have improved Tottenham.

Shearer also added that players who starred last season have been poor this term, naming Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen as players whose levels have dropped in the early stages of this season.

“It may seem churlish after they suffered their first league defeat of the season on Saturday, but I see no improvement from a side that got so close to winning the title last campaign,” said Shearer. “It has been a sorry week for them, leaving serious question marks over the ability of this team and, indeed, some of the decisions by the manager.”

“The morning after the Monaco defeat there appeared to be some blame being passed chairman Daniel Levy’s way. He had not backed his manager enough in the transfer market, apparently, which is why the squad wasn’t coping.”

“Hang on, he spent nearly £70million on Victor Wanyama, Vincent Janssen, Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou. None of them have improved Spurs. Also, there are players who did well for Spurs last season but whose levels have dropped — Eric Dier being one along with Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen,” he added.
