Newcastle United aren’t in the best of positions at the moment. They’re yet to win a Premier League game, Steve Bruce is disliked by the fanbase and Mike Ashley is still at the helm.
However, change could be on the horizon. There’s now the chance that the long-rumoured Saudi takeover could be on the cards, and if that does come to fruition, there’d surely be something of a revolution at St James’ Park.
New signings would be coming in and we’d have to imagine there’d also be a new manager, but one man who won’t be taking that job is Alan Shearer.
Indeed, speaking on the latest edition of the Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Shearer admitted that he wouldn’t take the Newcastle job at this point even if new owners came in.

“One hypothetical question. Let’s say that Mike Ashley left, he sold the club and the new owners gave you a call tomorrow to come back and manage Newcastle, would you take that job?” Lineker asked.
“No, it’s too late for me now in management, it’s too late for me now I think,” Shearer responded.

Shearer would probably love to have another crack at management, but at this point in his career, he knows he’s probably not up to the task.
It’s been 15 years since he retired from playing and he’s only managed eight games in his life, the reality is that the game has moved on and if Newcastle get new owners they can probably do better.
Would they be able to find someone who loves the club as much as Shearer? Definitely not, but would they be able to get someone in who has a better managerial CV and tactical understanding of the modern game, probably.
