Newcastle United will face Luton Town in the third round of the FA Cup tie at St James’ Park on the weekend of January 6th.
Luton Town are a League Two side, and they reached this stage after beating United’s North East neighbours Gateshead on Sunday.
This fixture would be very emotional for Newcastle legend Rob Lee, who will see his loyalties torn as both his two sons – Elliot and Olly Lee – play for Luton.
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer took to social networking site Twitter to express his reaction about the FA Cup draw. He tweeted:
Newcastle have been going through a torrid time in the Premier League, having failed to win their last six matches.
The Magpies have not been great in the FA Cup in recent years, and last year, they went out in the fourth round to Oxford City.
On paper, Newcastle should progress easily through to the next round, but Luton Town will be looking to cause an upset.
