Javier Hernandez scored twice for the Hammers at St. James’ Park, while Felipe Anderson added a third in injury time.
Newcastle legend Shearer was following the match, and he has taken to Twitter to give his reaction on the final result.
Newcastle were in good form heading into the match against West Ham and had won their last three matches.
Playing at home was an advantage, but Rafael Benitez’s side failed to step up, and West Ham deservedly picked up all three points from the Premier League encounter.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon, hosts Newcastle had 59% of the possession, took 16 shots of which four were on target, and earned seven corners, according to BBC Sport.
The defeat to Manuel Pellegrini’s side means that Newcastle are now 15th in the Premier League table with 12 points from 14 matches, just three points above the relegation zone.
