Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer reacts on Twitter to Romelu Lukaku’s comments.

Newcastle United legend and now turned BBC pundit, Alan Shearer has given a brilliant response to Romelu Lukaku’s comments on Twitter.

Lukaku, the Belgian striker, completed his medical ahead of his move to Manchester United from Everton on Sunday for a fee in the region of around £75 million, as reported by Sky Sports.

According to Sky Sports, Lukaku said “Who would say no to the biggest club in the world?”

Shearer responded to the tweet by saying that he did turn down an offer from Spanish giants Barcelona to continue with Newcastle United.

Lukaku has enjoyed a superb 2016/17 Premier League campaign where he scored 25 goals for Everton.

He made it clear that this would be his last season at Everton, and despite being heavily linked with a return to his former club Chelsea, he chose to join Manchester United instead.

United are the most successful club in England and Lukaku’s reaction to the move is quite natural.

However, there are instances in football where great players have also turned down big money move elsewhere. Alan Shearer is one of them.
