Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has taken to Twitter to comment on the Magpies’ 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday, suggesting he doesn’t care how boring the performance may have been.

The Magpies went into the game having claimed just one point from their first five outings this term, though defeats to Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal were far from a disgrace.

A trip to Crystal Palace came on Saturday afternoon, and with manager Rafael Benitez still looking for a first win this season, he will have been hoping for three points in South London.

He saw his side keep a clean sheet at Selhurst Park, though Newcastle did see Mamadou Sakho squander a major opportunity in the late stages of the game, heading home Andros Townsend’s cross with the goal gaping.

Benitez will be delighted with a second clean sheet of the season, but the concern will be that they haven’t managed to score in either of the games they have failed to win.

Newcastle aren’t quite doing enough to win games at the moment, but Benitez will be glad to have stopped a run of three defeats in a row, with Alan Shearer offering his reaction on Twitter.

Magpies legend Shearer joked that Newcastle’s draw may have been someway boring, making it one of the last games on Match of the Day this weekend, but Shearer didn’t care, claiming it was a good point for Newcastle on their travels.
