Newcastle United lost against Blackburn Rovers in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Alan Shearer has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Newcastle United’s failure to win against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Newcastle failed to maintain their strong run of form in the Championship, as they went down 1-0 to Blackburn at home.

Charlie Mulgrew’s goal in the 75th minute of the encounter proved to be the difference between the two sides at St. James’ Park.

Former Newcastle and Blackburn striker Shearer has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the final result.

David May, a former Rovers defender, has stated on Twitter that he hopes that Newcastle get relegated.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon, hosts Newcastle had 66% of the possession, took 15 shots of which only two were on target, and earned eight corners, according to BBC Sport.

Visitors Blackburn had just 34% of the possession, took 11 shots of which only two were on target, and earned nine corners, according to BBC Sport.

Newcastle are at the top of the Championship table at the moment with 40 points from 18 matches, just two points clear of second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion.
