Newcastle United beat Preston North End 6-0 in the EFL Cup yesterday evening.
Alan Shearer has praised Newcastle United’s supporters for turning out in numbers against Preston North End.
Newcastle had over 50,000 supporters at St. James’ Park last night, which nearly broke their record attendance in the EFL Cup.
The Magpies’ followers were rewarded for their loyalty, as Rafael Benitez’s men ran out 6-0 winners over Preston.
The win was Newcastle’s sixth victory in a row, and Shearer was delighted with the performance his former side put in.
Newcastle’s victory was picked up in very comfortable fashion, with Aleksandar Mitrovic, Mohamed Diame, Matt Ritchie and Ayoze Perez all getting on the scoresheet.
Benitez made changes to his side for the fixture, and he now faces a selection headache ahead of Newcastle’s next match.
The Magpies are next in action this weekend, when they take on Preston again – this time in Championship action.
